Here is an overview of the message she will be presenting:

The Longing to Know Message

v     It is profoundly important and productive to think about how we know what we know.

Western culture, including you and I, has been caught up in some wrongheaded notions about knowing. These misconceptions have actually kept us from recognizing, appreciating, and capitalizing on what we do when we know.

v     When we go about knowing in the wrong way,

Ø      We experience frustration;

Ø      We develop damaging disconnects between:

§         words and reality

§         mind and body

§         facts and values

§         faith and reason

§         science and artistry

§         information and wisdom

§         knowing and action

§         knowledge and life

§         knowledge and persons

§         knowledge and ethics

§         knowledge and love.

Ø      In the end, many people conclude that you can?t know anything at all.

v     When we go about knowing in the right way,

Ø      We feel the relief of recognizing and accrediting our capacities, and unleashing our effectiveness;

Ø      We restore our sense of confidence, joy and adventure;

Ø      We reintegrate the disconnects;

Ø      We reconnect with the world, with ourselves, and with God.

v     Longing to Know?

Ø      Names our mistaken ?default-mode? attempts at knowing and their damaging effects;

Ø      Describes human knowing in a way that fits and confirms your day-to-day experience.

Ø      Describes knowing as relying on clues to shape a pattern that unlocks the world.

§         Knowing is ?from-to?

§         Knowing relies on clues from our body, the world, and directions

§         Knowing engages the real in interpersonal, covenantal relationship

Ø      Helps you identify key features of the process and suggests how this new awareness will make you more effective in everything from playing golf to knowing God;

Ø      Offers encouragement and hope to people stymied by questions about truth and certainty, belief and doubt, relativism and skepticism;

Ø      Cultivates and empowers your longing to know in:

§         Business and sports

§         Science and art

§         Religion

§         Parenting, counseling and teaching.

v     I believe that this message is critically important to the future of our lives, our work, our society, and human history.
